Media and Life Today

The media and technology have evolved from being a luxury in life to a necessity. When newer technology is released, no matter what it is or if people even need it, people will go out and buy it just to keep up with the Jones'. Society is obsessed with having that newest toy to show off to their friends.
I also believe that people and society are so obsessed with technology that they are sacrificing their friends and relationships. People do not know how to act without their technology. For our society to succeed, we need to stop buying the newest "toys" and to actually have a face to face conversation with our friends. We can have the technology but we also cannot lose our personal relationships. If we lose our technology and do not have our personal relationships, then we will have problems succeeding as a society.

  1. I totally agree with you on the fact that we need to stop buying the new "toys" and begin to have just face to face conversations with people. We are beginning to lose our social skills with all the new gadgets making it easier and easier all the time to just send a text message or email without even the slightest bit of social interaction. If we don't soon start interacting with other people soon we will totally lose all traits of social skills.

  2. I agree with you. I believe people would give just about anything to have the latest technology than looking at what really matters. It seems like it's just become the latest convenience to text someone rather then calling or to message them on facebook. I also find it ironic that we're talking about technology and how we all rely on it and it happens to be a necessity for this class.

  3. I totally agree with you. I've noticed that every time I try to have a face to face conversation with my friends they're always in another conversation with some one else; whether it's via text or some other form. It seems that our generation can not function with out technology and can not interact with people with out either. It's really sad that we as a society have lost that. Also I totally agree with Courtney in that it is totally ironic that we are reading a book that is "bashing" the media and technology and yet it's required for class that we use it.

  4. Ha. Courtney. Well said. We can't even escape technology in this class :) Ah well...at least we have a chance to question it. Even if it is ironic.
